Below is our first full report on the Ignatian Mission Center’s activities. In 2019, Fr. Dan Hartnett and Deacon Chris Murphy led members of the St. Ignatius Parish community through a discernment process, during which the idea of a mission center that would continue to serve the community and preserve the church was formulated. The idea later was incorporated into the Renew My Church recommendations for the St. Ignatius-St. Jerome-St. Gertrude parish grouping.
The Ignatian Mission Center (IMC) was formed as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization in
2021 and I was named acting executive director in 2022. The formation of the IMC and the
work we have accomplished since has been with the support of a dedicated board working
in cooperation with the Archdiocese. We’ve accomplished a lot so far but aim to do much
more in the next few years to bring together the Catholic and non-Catholic residents of
Rogers Park, West Ridge and Edgewater.
